When 13-year-old Sara James stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage in 2022, she already had an impressive musical background in Poland. The young singer had won The Voice Kids Poland in 2021 and later represented her country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where she finished second. Still, performing on an American stage for the first time was a completely different challenge. Sara arrived with a simple goal: to discover whether the dreams she had seen on America’s Got Talent could become a reality for her.
For her audition, Sara chose “Lovely” by Billie Eilish and Khalid, a song that gave her plenty of room to showcase both emotion and vocal control. As soon as she began singing, the nervous energy surrounding the audition seemed to disappear. Her voice was powerful yet controlled, and she delivered the song with a confidence that surprised many viewers. By the end, the audience was cheering, while the judges appeared impressed by the young performer standing before them.
But Simon Cowell saw something beyond Sara’s vocal ability. He recognized a natural stage presence and told her she had a “real star glow.” Then, in a moment that Sara clearly did not expect, Simon reached for the Golden Buzzer. Gold confetti filled the stage as Sara stood stunned and emotional, realizing she had just been sent directly to the live shows. The unforgettable moment instantly introduced her to a much larger international audience.
Sara continued her AGT journey and reached the Season 17 finale, becoming one of the Top 11 acts competing for the grand prize. Although she did not win, the experience opened an important new chapter in her career. She continued releasing music and developing her identity as an artist, with releases including “Brighter Day,” “DETOX,” “KIKI,” and “PRICE TAG.” Her journey from a young Polish talent-show winner to an AGT Golden Buzzer recipient proves that one powerful performance can open doors around the world.
