This Breakfast Sandwich is what morning dreams are made of.
Ingredients:
4 slices of sandwich bread (white or whole wheat)
4 large eggs
4 slices of crispy bacon or ham
4 slices of cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)
1/2 cup fresh lettuce leaves (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Directions:
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Toast the bread on a skillet over medium heat, buttered side down, until golden brown. Set aside.
In the same skillet, cook bacon slices until crispy, or warm the ham slices. Remove and set aside.
Crack the eggs into a bowl, whisk, and season with salt and pepper. Cook the eggs in the skillet over medium heat, gently stirring until fluffy and set.
Place one slice of cheese on one toasted bread slice. Top with scrambled eggs, bacon or ham, and a layer of lettuce if desired.
Add the second slice of toasted bread on top to create a sandwich. Repeat for the remaining sandwiches.
Return the assembled sandwiches to the skillet over low heat, cover with a lid, and heat for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
Slice each sandwich in half and serve immediately for a hearty breakfast
