Jalapeño Popper Patty Melts
A deliciously spicy twist on the classic patty melt, with melted cheese, beef, and the kick of jalapeños!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 jalapeños, diced (remove seeds if you prefer less heat)
4 tablespoons butter, softened
8 slices of bread (sourdough or your choice)
Optional: 1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
Instructions:
Prepare the Beef Patties:
Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then divide into 4 portions.
Shape each portion into a thin patty (they should match the size of your bread slices).
In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook each patty for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Set aside.
Sauté the Jalapeños:
In the same skillet, add the diced jalapeños (and onions if using) and cook until they’re soft and slightly charred. Remove from the skillet.
Assemble the Patty Melts:
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, layer cheddar cheese, a cooked beef patty, some cooked jalapeños, mozzarella cheese, and top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
Grill the Patty Melts:
Heat the skillet over medium heat. Place each assembled sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Serve:
Slice in half and serve warm, enjoying that gooey cheese and spicy kick! Perfect with a side of fries or a cold drink.
