Mozzarella Cheesesteak Stromboli
Ingredients
1 lb steak, thinly sliced
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 onion, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Marinara sauce, for dipping
Directions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Cook the Vegetables:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Steak:
In the same skillet, add the sliced steak. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes until browned. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Assemble the Stromboli:
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Place the cooked steak in the center, followed by the sautéed vegetables. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling and tuck in the ends. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork. Transfer the stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake:
Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
Serve:
Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
