Ingredients:
Cherry Filling:
2 cups Bing cherries, pitted
⅓ cup sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Cream Cheese Mixture:
8 oz cream cheese
½ cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Puff Pastry & Glaze:
1 box store-bought puff pastry sheets
1 large egg
1 tablespoon water
Coarse sugar for topping
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:

In a medium saucepan, cook cherries, sugar, and lemon juice over low heat. Mix water and cornstarch in a small bowl, then stir it into the cherry mixture. Cook until the sauce thickens (3-4 minutes), then let cool.

In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy (2-3 minutes). Add sugar, egg yolk, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture down the center, leaving space on the edges. Add cherry filling on top of the cream cheese.

Cut slits on the sides of the pastry and fold over to create a braid-like appearance. Secure the ends to prevent leakage.

Beat egg with water and brush over the pastry. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

Mix powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle over the baked pastry.

Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your flaky, fruity pastry with a drizzle of glaze!
