Easy Orange Chicken

Crispy chicken coated in a tangy, sweet orange sauce—perfect for a quick and flavorful dinner!

Ingredients:

Chicken:

• 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
• 1/2 cup cornstarch
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

Orange Sauce:

• 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed or bottled)
• 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for thickening)
• 1/4 cup water
• 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• Zest of 1 orange

Directions:

1. Prepare Chicken: In a bowl, season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Toss with cornstarch until each piece is well coated.
2. Cook Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5-6 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside.
3. Make Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, water, cornstarch, ginger (if using), garlic powder, and orange zest.
4. Thicken Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the same skillet. Stir and cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 3-4 minutes.
5. Combine: Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet, tossing to coat each piece in the orange sauce.
6. Serve: Serve hot over steamed rice, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
