Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast
Classic Creamed Chipped Beef on Buttery Toast
Ingredients:
8 oz dried beef, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
Salt and pepper to taste
8 slices of toast (white or whole grain)
Directions:
Rinse the dried beef to remove excess salt, then pat dry and slice into bite-sized pieces.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the dried beef and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Sprinkle in the flour and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Toast the bread slices in a toaster or under a broiler until golden brown.
Serve the creamed beef over the toasted bread slices.
