s the countdown to his boxing match with Jake Paul continues, Mike Tyson has revealed some unconventional methods he’s using in his training, including the use of psychedelic mushrooms.
During a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, Tyson discussed how integrating psychedelic mushrooms into his training routine has been a transformative experience. He described the impact of the mushrooms as “beautiful,” suggesting that they play a significant role in his preparation for the fight.
“I have to take them when I train. I always train with my mushrooms,” Tyson said.
“Cause I feel beautiful. It takes me to heaven, baby. If I’m not on mushrooms [in the fight against Jake Paul] I’ll be on residue of mushrooms.”
Experimenting with psychedelics
Tyson’s exploration of psychedelics goes beyond just mushrooms. In a 2021 interview with the New York Post, Tyson spoke about a life-changing experience he had after trying the venom of the Sonoran Desert Toad.
He began using the venom four years ago and has since taken it more than 50 times. This substance, however, is controversial – classified as a Schedule I drug by the DEA, it’s deemed to have no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
“In my trips I’ve seen that death is beautiful,” he said. “Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.
“I did it as a dare. I was doing heavy drugs like cocaine, so why not? It’s another dimension. Before I did the toad, I was a wreck.”
“The toughest opponent I ever faced was myself. I had low self-esteem. People with big egos often have low self-esteem. We use our ego to subsidize that. The toad strips the ego.”
