Cheesy Meatball Sub
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
1 lb ground beef or pork (or a mix)
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg, beaten
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Sub:
4 hoagie rolls or soft baguettes
1 cup marinara sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Mix well and form into 1-inch meatballs.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Set aside.
Assemble the Subs:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread a little marinara sauce on the inside of each roll.
Place the meatballs inside each roll, and pour additional marinara sauce over them.
Top with shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese.
Bake:
Place the subs in an oven-safe dish and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
